Heart Sutra
"Om Tadyatam gate gate paragate parasam gate bodhi svaha."
"Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone utterly beyond, Enlightenment hail!"
Mantra describing the truth realized in meditation by the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, the embodiment of compassion.
Om
Tadyatam = 'like this' or 'this way'
Gate = gone.
Gate gate = gone, gone.
Paragate = gone all the way to the other shore
Parasam gate = gone across to the other side, gone altogether beyond, together with everyone, the sangha, the entire community of beings, everyone gone, gone over to the other shore.
Bodhi = is the light inside, enlightenment, or awakening.
Svaha = a cry of joy or excitement, like "Welcome!", "Hallelujah!” or “Well Said"
